Acting halfback
From Rugby League Wiki
Acting halfback, also referred to as dummy half, is the name of the role carried out by the players standing immediately behind the tackled player and the marker, during the play-the-ball.[1] The acting halves must remain in position, "until the play-the-ball movement is complete".[1]
[edit] Development
The hooker has become almost synonymous with the dummy half role. However, any player can act as their team's dummy half.
As a consequence of the rule change that prohibited the marker from striking for the ball in the ruck, the nature of the role played by the defending team's acting halfback has changed. The defending team's acting half back is now commonly referred to as second marker.
