What is rugby league?

In rugby league football, two teams of 13 players attempt to gain the most points by scoring tries and goals.

Players carry or kick the ball towards their opponent's end of the playing field. Once there, a try can be scored by grounding the ball is the in-goal area. After scoring a try, that team is given the chance to try at goal with a kick for further points - this is called a conversion. At other times during a game, drop goals and penalty goals can be scored, if a team is within kicking range of the opposition's goal.

The opposing team will attempt to stop the side in possession from gaining points by preventing their progress up the field by tackling the player carrying the ball.
