[edit] Identity

The game is, and has been, referred to by different names in different areas and times. Non-clarified use of the terms rugby and football should only be used when referring to rugby league football, the game before the Schism, or to the ball in the case of football. Exceptions may be made for quotes, if necessary.

Other sports such as association football, Australian rules and rugby union should not be referred to ambiguously.

[edit] Referencing

shortcut RLW:Cite
shortcut RLW:Sources

Information should be cited to allow facts taken from articles to be checked.

An easy way to cite a web page is by using Template:Cite web. Ideally, full details of the source (author, publisher, etc.) would be added, but completing the following will save the most important information:

<ref name="An identifier for the ref">{{cite web
| url = http://www.url.com/
| title = Enter title
| archiveurl =http://www.webcitation.org/???
| archivedate =YYYY-MM-DD}}</ref>

The use of http://webcitation.org/ when referencing web pages is strongly encouraged. It makes a copy of the web page you're referencing, which is a useful should a page becoming inaccessible in time ("link rot"). http://www.archive.org/ may be useful in finding an version of a page that has been lost in some cases.

It is possible to question a claim made in an article by adding {{Citation needed}} after the sentence.
