Rugby League Wiki:Policies
Policies and guidelines are used to by Rugby League Wiki to clarify principles, detail best practice and reduce conflict while contributors to the project work to document rugby league. It is not intended for Rugby League Wiki to develop a plethora of policies and guidelines and the 'wiki lawyers' that come with them. Those policies and guidelines that are developed will be supported by 'food for thought' points and essays.
Policies and guidelines are not set in stone. Sensible suggestions should be considered. Discuss Rugby League Wiki policies here.

Provisional Policies
If not here, where?
This is a wiki dedicated to rugby league with a mission to become the best reference for the game.
When arguing against the inclusion of a piece of information, contributors should ask themselves, "if the information isn't preserved and easily available here, where will it be?"
Consider the whole sport
While presenting content on the wiki, the entire sport and its history should be taken into consideration. Official usage and marketing may influence differences in the consideration of teams versus concepts or competitions.
- Examples
- Representative team article titles should include gender and level/age descriptors. England men's team, England under 20s men's team.
- The terms drop goal and field goal have not always meant the same thing, they were two different ways of scoring before the original field goal was abolished. Accommodation should be made for this.
- The men's world cup is marketed as the Rugby League World Cup. A disambiguation page can exist at World Cup for all classifications.
Easy upkeep
Content should be easy to maintain.
- Examples
- If "x" occurs for the first time, do not say that it is the only time "x" has occurred because if it happens a second time this out of date content will need to be noticed and changed.
- Lists of every player to have kicked a goal or scored a try in a competition sorted by frequency are tedious to check and update.
